Everyone here knows this problem with transporting bicycles on airplanes: strange conditions, costs and general nuisance with the handling.
But we could avoid such trouble creating a simply system of exchanging our bikes, between them who would join the pool. For instance, I could make my bike available for those preparing a bike trip to Sweden, and myself, at the same time, had a choice of several bikes on other continents, to plan my trip accordingly.
Let’s discuss the idea.

good idea Piotr
For a general short tour around towns and villages, I think this is a great idea, but for expeditionary style tour. you gotta bring your own bike, you need to know what part of your bike might/will fail so you are prepared for that.
Hi Piotr. I like the idea because I rented few times a bicycle and I was always satisfied. On my last trip I have done 1300km with a rented bike from one cyclist and two times I borrowed a bike and owners didn't want any money for it. Rgds and welcom to sLOVEnia. Robin
I agree, it can be a real faff and a logisitcal nightmare. However, on a positive note, I have flown with Norwegian Air and whilst they do charge a fee for transporting bikes, they currently allow bikes to be transported without being boxed up. I flew from Copenhagen to London Gatwick a couple of years ago. It was brilliant. I rode to Copenhagen airport, checked in my bike, then rode it home from London Gatwick. Also, I believe the Virgin still allow bikes at no extra xharge but they do have to be boxed.
Great idea
would be great for warmshowers website to have a section for that
